Catechesis and Evangelization
DOMINICAN TRADITION FOR THE NEW EVANGELIZATION
Since its foundation, the Dominican Order has emphasized catechesis and evangelization. St. Dominic stressed the need for his followers to study the faith thoroughly so they could share it convincingly. To counter today’s rapid secularization, the world urgently needs a revitalization of catechesis and evangelization. In keeping with the demands of the New Evangelization, this includes using the media to share the message of the Gospel.
Embracing New Tools to Share Timeless Truths
Outside the classroom, our primary vehicle for catechesis and evangelization is Openlight Media. We create online courses and video series on God, prayer, the life of virtue and many other faith-related topics.
These professionally produced videos are geared towards children, educators and any adult who is open to having their mind illuminated by the light of Christ. They feature not only our sisters, but also beloved priests who make the faith come alive, such as Fr. John Riccardo and Father Thomas Joseph White, O.P.

Other Ways Our Sisters Evangelize
You don’t have to be a teacher or preacher to evangelize. Every word we speak and action we perform can reveal Jesus to others.
We’re sometimes invited to give talks and retreats to share the joy of a life centered on the Eucharist — something everyone should aspire to, regardless of their vocation. We also evangelize through public appearances on shows across media outlets, where many viewers have never encountered religious sisters before.
